- Inventory on the way
RE-RELEASE of a classic aged Shiraz. Aging well with some lovely complexity.
WINESTATE 4 stars, 94 points.
"Very bright sweet primary fruit fragrances and juicy fruit flavours with chewy tannins. Very more-ish".
Shiraz mostly sourced from our own vineyard blended with a selection of parcels from local Pyrenees growers, this Moates Lane comes from the spectacular 2018 vintage. A couple of pallets were kept back for a corporate client who has relinquished this stock, so their loss is your gain! Our 2018 Moates Lane Aged Shiraz is a wine that offers both elegance and intensity, making it a perfect companion for any special occasion. It is still amazingly fresh with vibrant fruit and the youthful tannins have softened to a full flavoured yet velvety wine offering great complexity.
COLOUR
Dark garnet red with a purple edge.
NOSE
Clean pronounced developing aromas of blueberry and raspberry fruit with a peppery intertwine of sweet toast and forest floor.
PALATE
Full-bodied flavours of fresh blackberry and ripe strawberry over a subtle peppery oak background, finishing perfect length and balance.
WINEMAKING
Sourced from 30 plus year old Pyrenees Shiraz Vineyards. Fermented on skins in small open fermenters and stainless steel tanks for 8 to 10 days. MLF was encouraged on skins and completed in tank prior to aging in French and American oak barrels.
FOOD PAIRING
Roast lamb with family and friends, Osso Buco, spaghetti bolognese, or enjoy with a selection of barbacued fare.
VINTAGE NOTES
A relatively cool summer made for one of the best vintages for many years with harvest taking place weeks later than usual and the slower ripening providing more time for flavour development and more intensely flavoured grapes.
