3MBS Fine Music Melbourne is proud to present the 2017 Mozart Marathon, Australia’s largest classical chamber music event. Taking place on Sunday 26 February 2017 between 9.30am and 9.30pm, this event promises to be a highlight on the Melbourne music calendar for 2017.
Across six sessions, you’ll hear 85 of Australia’s finest chamber and vocal musicians perform 22 of Mozart’s greatest masterpieces including: Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major, K. 414, Serenade No. 10 in B-flat major, K. 361 ‘Gran Partita’, Clarinet Concerto, Mozart Piano Sonata No. 11 A major K. 331, Piano Trio No. 5 in C major K.548, Serenade No. 13 in G major, K. 525, ‘Eine kleine Nachtmusik’ and much, much more.
Featuring a stellar line-up of some of Australia’s and Melbourne’s most beloved classical musicians, including: Goldner String Quartet, Curt Thompson, Chris Howlett, Elyane Laussade, Kathryn Selby, Jeffrey Crellin, Wilma Smith, Ian Munro, Timothy Young, David Griffths, Svetlana Bogosavljevic, Chris Moore, Stefan Cassomenos, Andrew Godwin, Daniel de Borah, Musica Viva’s Arcadia Winds, Sophie Rowell, Conductor Richard Mills, Kristian Chong, Tristan Lee, Sutherland Trio, Musicians of Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, and the 3MBS Choir under the direction of Michael Leighton Jones.
The annual 3MBS Marathon event is a unique opportunity to engage deeply with a musical genius. Mozart follows the immensely popular Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms and Mendelssohn marathons of previous years. All artists are donating their services to support 3MBS Fine Music, Melbourne’s only fine music radio station. 3MBS is unique in its support of local musicians and broadcasts to over 330,000 listeners every month. The annual 3MBS Marathon is a key fundraising event that brings together Melbourne’s classical music community in their appreciation of a great composer.
Ticket buyers can choose a premium all-day pass (which includes full catering across the day) a standard all-day pass, or individual tickets to each session. The performances will take place across six sessions, with one-hour breaks for lunch and dinner and shorter breaks between sessions. Free Sunday parking is available at the rear of the Hawthorn Arts Centre.
